FAQs

Q: How do I RSVP?

A: Please RSVP directly to the “RSVP” tab on this site by May 15, 2022.

Q: What is the COVID protocol?

A: We will require proof of vaccination along with your RSVP. Please send your proof of vaccine (photo of your vaccine card or screenshot of a digital record) to elliotandmiranda@gmail.com.

We also ask that you take a COVID rapid test prior to attending. We will have rapid tests available for those who need them at both events.

Both events will be outdoors, so by taking the extra precaution of making sure everyone is vaccinated and has tested negative, we don’t plan to require masks. If you prefer to wear a mask, we support and encourage you!

Q: What is the wedding schedule?

A: Please check the “schedule” tab of this site.

Q: Which island are you getting married on?

A: We are getting married on San Juan Island. San Juan Island is the county seat of the San Juan archipelago. The archipelago includes other beautiful islands to visit - including Orcas Island, Shaw Island and Lopez island. Please be careful when booking ferry and hotel/ airbnb reservations to book your hotel on San Juan Island because the islands are not connected by bridge or tunnel and the only way to get from one island to another is by boat or plane. The main town on San Juan Island is Friday Harbor and this is where the ferry comes in.

Q: What is the best way to get to San Juan island?

A: We have provided travel details on the “travel” section of our site. Please note: if you plan to drive to the island, please check ferry schedules and purchase tickets in advance. They book up quickly, especially in the summer!

Q: Where should I stay on the island?

A: Please check the “accommodations” tab of this site for details on room blocks. We suggest staying in Friday Harbor, which is the closest town to the wedding site.

Q: Can I bring a plus one?

A: We have tried to ensure that all invitees were named, but it is possible we missed something! If there was an oversight please let us know.

Q: Do you have a registry?

A: We do! You can find our registry here.

Q: Will I need a car on the island?

A: It depends on what you want to do, and how you plan to get to the island! If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of renting a car and getting a ferry reservation for your car, then you should plan to get to the island by either taking a small plane, taking the Clipper passenger ferry from downtown, or taking a shuttle from Seattle to the Anacortes ferry terminal and then walking on. The ferry, most planes, and the Clipper Passenger Ferry all drop you off right in Friday Harbor so if you are staying in town, you could walk to your hotel. For more information on these travel options, check the Travel tab of our site. Once you get to the island, a car is not necessary. We will have shuttles that will pick you up in Friday Harbor and take you to the venue on Thursday night. If you plan to explore on your own during the day, you can rent bikes, take a taxi (there’s no uber, so taking a taxi does require some advance planning), or take the San Juan Jolley Trolley, which is a tourist trolley that runs on a loop to some of the spots you might want to visit on the island.

If you plan on staying after the wedding through the weekend and would like to explore other islands in the San Juans or explore other places in the PNW, then a car will be helpful. Just make sure to make ferry reservations for your car in advance. Information on booking ferry reservations can be found on the Travel tab of our site.

Q: Can I make special food requests?

A: We’ve added a section for food allergies on the RSVP section of this site. We’ll attempt to accommodate major food allergies as best possible.

Q: What is the attire?

A: Wear whatever makes you feel best! We really want to dance with you so wear something you can dance in. Elliot has been known to dance so hard at weddings that he ripped his pants. We highly encourage this behavior.

In all seriousness, Wednesday night will be very casual. We’ll be grilling pizzas and hanging out in a garden. The Thursday ceremony and reception will be festive cocktail attire. By that we mean cocktail dresses, jumpsuits, and suits. Both events be outdoors in the grass, so stilettos will be uncomfortable. The weather in the Pacific Northwest can be variable, so you may want to bring a light jacket for the evening.

Q: What will the weather be like?

A: June in the San Juans is lovely! The San Juan Island chain is protected by the ‘Rain Shadow’ effect meaning it generally gets less rain than other parts of the PNW all year round. We recommend that you bring a light jacket for evening activities on the island.

Q: Are there events planned the weekend after the wedding?

A: No. There are no formal events planned the weekend after the wedding.

Q: Why is your wedding on a Thursday anyway?

A: Our venue and vendor team have been gracious to work with us to postpone our wedding for 2 years until we felt like we could safely bring the people we love together. We had to move the new date to a weekday to make that work, and we know it’s inconvenient. If you can make it, we will be so overjoyed. If the new weekday date means that you can’t, we also completely understand and will look forward to celebrating with you another time!
